Water collection system

In order to sustainably improve the school’s water supply, existing roof areas (mainly of buildings housing classrooms) were made usable for rainwater collection.

This was done by installing efficient gutters that can hold even larger amounts of rain, which then transfer the water to 7 newly installed plastic tanks, each with a volume of 24 cbm.

These tanks are founded on individual foundations and have a sheet metal roofing to prevent aging due to solar radiation as much as possible. The execution took place from April to June 2021.

In order to be able to control the water consumption well, the withdrawal is carried out only manually via a water tap. The water is then moved via smaller containers to the locations of need (e.g., opportunities to wash hands outside classrooms).
