On June 28, 2023, the Minister for Federal and European Affairs and Head of the State Chancellery Nathanael Liminski awarded the Federal Cross of Merit to Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Baetge. The Board of the Foundation and the Board of Trustees of the Home4Education congratulate them on this award.
In Minister Liminski’s laudatory speech, he found many appreciative words: “…Prof. Jörg Baetge has been involved not only scientifically but also in the social and humanitarian field for decades. After his retirement, he learned about the poor educational opportunities of the semi-Normadic Maasai ethnic group through his teaching at Kenyatta University in Nairobi and did not hesitate for long – with the support of the Lions Club Münster Landois, the simple Ilkeek Aare Primary School was converted into a boarding school. … With his outstanding commitment Prof. Baetge has not only made a contribution to the common good in Germany. He has sustainably improved the lives of many young people and their families and made a unique contribution to international understanding.”
