Maasai children could only attend the Ilkeek Aare Primary School (IAPS) day school for about three months of the year. As semi-nomads, they had to travel up to 30 kilometers with their parents during the dry season to find food for their herds. The transformation of IAPS into a boarding school, allows children to stay in school when their parents move on. This allows the children to study at the boarding school all year round and to successfully complete their final exams.
